Reiki Healing session with hands channeling energy, on Ad Astra Healing website.

Reiki Healing involves a therapist channeling energy into you through touch, activating your body’s natural healing processes to restore physical and emotional well-being.

What is reiki and how does it work?

Reiki, a Japanese technique, heals physical and mental trauma while fostering mental clarity and spiritual well-being. In Japanese, “rei” signifies a higher intelligence that permeates all living and non-living entities, guiding the universe’s inherent functioning. “Ki” denotes the nonphysical energy flowing through all living things, including plants, animals, and humans—often called “life force energy,” or qi/chi in other traditions. Together, these terms define reiki as “spiritually guided life-force energy.”

How is reiki performed?

A Reiki practitioner channels life force energy through their hands to the recipient. Spiritual guidance directs the Reiki to flow through affected areas of the recipient’s energy field, infusing them with positive energy. It heightens awareness in and around the physical body, targeting areas holding negative thoughts and feelings. This weakens the grip of negative energy—like stress, anxiety, physical pain, sadness, or confusion—allowing the Reiki healer’s touch to clear and restore the energy pathways.
